Hell Dorado is Picking Up Steam at Area 51!

Over the last few weeks we have been giving out countless demos for Hell Dorado, the newest miniature game from Cipher Studios here at Area 51. So far the feedback has been amazing! Because of this we are moving forward to establish a regular game night here at the store.

If you are interested in getting a demo don't hesitate to swing buy on a Monday or Thursday night and ask for a demo. As the only store in Dallas Ft. Worth that stocks the full line, we are sure to have what you want if you are interested in getting started.

WPN Nationals Qualifier @ Area 51!

Tomorrow (Saturday, April 23rd) will be a day for the history books here at Area 51 as we prepare to host the largest Magic the Gathering Tournament since we opened in 2008. Because of our rapid growth in becoming the #1 game store in Dallas Ft. Worth, Wizards (WotC) took notice and awarded us with the honor of hosting an event that only a few stores in the United States will have an opportunity to hold.

Registration will begin at 10:00am and the player's meeting will happen at 11:00am sharp. The event will be between 6-7 rounds of swiss followed by a top cut of 8 players. The winner will receive a qualified spot in the MtG Nationals event in Indianapolis where they will compete to represent Team USA at the world tournament. In addition, the winner will get a FREE weekend badge to Gen Con 2011. All members of the top 8 will receive pack prizes based on attendance.

Also, for the first time ever, Area 51 will be filming feature matches during the 4th-7th rounds and in the top 8 in our new Alien Club Member's Room that will be opening May 1st!

What's Happening at Area 51!

Warmachine Tournament:
Last night (Tuesday 3/8/11) marked the Warmachine tournament for the month of March! With it being a special holiday (Fat Tuesday) the guys played a themed event entitled "Thunderdome!" This allowed each player to take three Warcasters only and compete against 3 other players to be the last caster standing! In addition to the special event, the store supplied a chest of beer and several King Cakes for the group to add to the celebration.

In the end, Jay Kolar managed a dominating run by claiming the first place prize of most overall caster kills, and the second place prize of most consecutive caster kills! Congrats Jay on an awesome showing with your Menoth trio of terror casters.

Magic the Gathering - Besieged Game Day Results
On Sunday, the store hosted the Mirrodin Besieged Game Day Tournament. This event is a staple Area 51 tournament where the winner gets a sealed booster display of the newest release. This event proved to be just as exciting as past Game Day Events...

After playing five rounds of Standard Format, the event cut to top 8 which included, Alex Andrup, Alex Huebner, Jonathan Knapik, Jonathan Snow, Ian Andrup, Matt White, Terrence Jackson and Team Area 51 Alumni Mike Ferri. The top Mirran players who walked away with special preview cards from the next set were Jonathan Snow and Brian Subia. The top Phyrexian players taking preview cards were Donnie Rose and Jason Blackmor.
